MARELD Fuzz #2 is a silicon fuzz face circuit. Hand painted & handwired point-to-point in Stockholm.
MARELD Fuzz #2 is a silicon fuzz face circuit. Hand painted & handwired point-to-point at the kitchen table at home on Kungsholmen in Stockholm.
We use N.O.S transistors, capacitors & carbon comp resistors for a genuine 60's fuzz sound.
The transistors in the Fuzz#2 is two Telefunken BC108B. The pedal is true bypass, i.e. that the circuit is bypassed when the effect is turned off and does not affect the tone at all. Always disconnect the instrument jack when you are not using the pedal and the battery will last a very long time. In the standard version, we have omitted to install socket for 9v power supply. We do this because the pedal sounds best when powered by batteries. Ideal for a fuzz is a cheap 9v zinc carbon battery (included).
MARELD recommends
"Germanium fuzz tends to sound "best" in a tube amp being playedloud and which has already begun to break up. Alternatively, you can place an overdrive after the fuzz to simulate this. Engage the pedal. Turn the gain clockwise to the max position (or near the max position). Then back off the instrument's volume control to adjust the amount of fuzz. This way, you can go from a clean sound to a high-gain sound just by using the instrument's volume control. This fuzz clean up nicely when you turn back the volume on the guitar. Then continue experimenting on your own and ignore everything we just said."
